"Rheumatology outpatients"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

I have been visiting this clinic at least once a month for more than 5 years. My experience of everyone other than the consultants has generally been unpleasant. The care assistants attitude is one of disbelief that you are taking up their time. The chat in the phlebotomy room is always about how terrible it is to work there, critiquing other members of staff. The care assistants and nurses are rude, unhelpful, unapproachable and disinterested. There is a hierarchy which runs through the department. The nurse care was unbearably uncomfortable during my last visit. Trying to get medical assistance at times of great pain and/or worry has been nothing short of traumatic. Why I won't bring this up to them? My fear would be their level of care and contact when needed would disintegrate further and unfortunately I will need to rely on them for the rest of my life.

We are extremely sorry to hear of your experience and would like to give you the opportunity to discuss this in more detail with the Matron for that area. Could you please email corporate.affairs@chsft.nhs.uk with your contact details so we can arrange this.
