"Good birth experience"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

I had a c section with my son earlier in the year. I was very anxious about going to the delivery suite as my plan had to be to go to the birth place but my son had different ideas by getting into an awkward position! I had heard lots of negative things about the delivery suite but it wasreally calming clean and seemed really new! My midwive and her student were fab really proffesional and friendly. They kept me informed all the time as we had a bit of a wait to go to theatre and made sure we understood what was going on. While i was coming out of theatre there was a shift change but this was dealt with smoothly and everybody introduced themselves. The midwives took lots of first pictures which i treasure. We were taken to a private room on kent ward where we stayed for the next 2 nights all the midwives were really helpful even tho they were quite busy on the ward. The whole experience was much better than i thought it would be and it was so nice that my partner was able to stay over night as i know they cant stay in some other hospitals. I also feel really lucky to have had my antenatal care at Medway with all the extra tests and the growth scan at 33 weeks this helped to reassure us both that everything was ok with our pregnancy that we thought we would never have! My only negative is maybe the doctors could communicate a little better when explaining procedures. If were lucky enough to have another we will definatly want it at Medway! Thankyou.

We are absolutely delighted that your experience on the Delivery Suite and Kent Ward at Medway Maritime was so positive and enjoyable. We always strive to give the best possible care and recognise the birth as a wonderful experience and try to include partners and family members in that experience. We will share with the staff your positive comments and also feedback to the medical staff to consider explaining any procedures more clearly. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and experiences with us. We look forward to seeing you next time! Andrea Curling Senior Sister Kent Ward. Medway Maritime Hospital
