My father is 97 and has dementia. He was admitted to Acute Medical Unit (AMU) from A&E for treatment of a urine infection, and was subsequently moved to Valance Ward. His total stay was 1 week. My mother and I were very pleased with his treatment. In AMU care assistant (?) was very attentive to my father's needs and on Valance Ward, the nurse showed great patience and calm in looking after the patients who all had varying degrees of dementia. The nurse remained smiling throughout and even called us to let us know a change of plan when my father was not being discharged. The Doctor also called us and kept us well updated on my father's progress and the signs that would indicate that he was well enough to leave. Thank you everyone. Shelley
