Today I visited Wharedale General Hospital in Otley because my knee is swollen. I cannot bend it and can hardly walk, not to mention the pain. I am a teacher and had to be sent home, so I really needed treatment.
I went to minor injuries and was seen by a nurse who sent me for an x-ray. X-ray then said they couldn't do an x-ray because I hadn't had a trauma to the knee, but if I went to see my own GP he could refer me and then they would do an x-ray. I got annoyed and the x-ray man said he didn't appreciate being spoken to like that, but he didn't seem to care that I couldn't walk!
I was then sent back to minor injuries, who said it was protocol and they made me an app with my own GP for 4.30 today. Once I have seen the GP he will no doubt want an x-ray and guess what? The x-ray dept. will be closed!
At no time was I offered a wheel chair or assistance and no one asked how I had got to the hospital. I drove in agony and now have to do the same again to go to my own GP and probably back to the x-ray dept.
I am now looking for an official complaint number or email where I can voice my dissatisfaction as well as on here. I don't think that the local hospital in Otley is an asset or amenity, I think it is simply an expensive mistake.
