"A misunderstanding about my pills"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford)

(as the patient),

About a month ago I was in hospital where there was a misunderstanding about my pills. These things happen, I thought no more about it.

A few days later I was in hospital again to have scans, as it was so soon after my previous visit all the staff recognized me.

A senior nurse came up and looked at my pills, commented that I was having too much pain killer and said she would get it reduced. She then went on to comment about all the other medication I was taking at which point I asked if senior nursing staff as well as doctors were now prescriber's.

She went off to speak to a doctor, whilst I was off the ward having a scan I found my medication had been reduced by a third. I've never heard of a senior nurse taking it upon herself to change a patient’s medication.

I take a number of pills each day, I need each one, know what each one is for and when I need to take it. I have seen a number of consultants about my pain management and have come to an agreement about the level of medication I need.

I was not in hospital to have my medication reviewed, I was there for other procedures.
