I am 9 weeks pregnant with my first baby and experienced a bleed which was obviously very worrying, first of all I'd like to say how impressed I was with the nhs 111 helpline I was very reluctant to call because of the negative things I had heard in the media but within 30 minutes of phoning them I had been passed through to a nurse/paramedic, who put me urgently through to the out of hours dr, who spoke to me and arranged an early pregnancy scan. Everyone I spoke to was extremely sympathetic and tried to comfort me the best they could when I couldn't help but cry. When me and my partner went for my early scan I was extremely nervous, I was a little late but this wasn't even mentioned they saw the people who were booked after me as they were early. The nurse was excellent, we spoke through the bleed, she then explained what was going to happen during the ultrasound. During the ultrasound I didn't want to look at first but partner says she found the baby almost immediately, she was very caring and encouraged me to look. She checked the whole way through that she wasn't pushing too hard, and even explained the scan to us, pointing out it's head and arms. We even got a picture to show our families. I know not everyone's stories who visit the early pregnancy unit end as happily as ours, but rest assured you'll be looked after. I'd like to say a big thank you to the nhs helpline and everyone I spoke to and the staff at the early pregnancy unit. You have all filled me with confidence about the care I'll receive during my pregnancy.
"Excellent.."
