"Sample un-labelled so not sent for testing."

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

Further to my previous comment. After spending a night in Queen's on an antibiotic and steroid drip for the same condition my face was aspirated and swabbed so that it could be sent for testing presumably so we could find out what it is and how to effectively treat it. A massively important thing. I saw my GP around 1 week after being discharged and when we looked to see the swab results it said that the specimen had not been sent because it had not been labelled. Clearly this is not important enough for staff to bother with. Not recalled for a re-swab which would be the responsible thing to do and they must know it wasn't sent. Absolutely ridiculous.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am sorry that due to a test not being labelled we were unable to pass on your results. For me to investigate this, I will need some more information from you. Please contact me via our PALS team on 01708 435 454 or email PALS@bhrhospitals.nhs.uk. Yours sincerely, Stephen Burgess Medical Director
