"Made to feel like a hypochondriac by doctor"

About: Rotherham Hospital

The reception staff and the nurse that dealt with me were lovely, really friendly and helpful. The doctor on the other hand made me feel like i was telling lies and that I was a hypochondriac. He asked me questions and then spoke over me when I was trying to answer them. I found him rude and intimidating and in the end I just wanted to get out of there. I wasn't able to tell him the full extent of my symptoms as he made me feel stupid and like I was wasting his time.

Hello, my name is Shireen Say, Matron for Unscheduled Care at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. I am pleased that you found our Accident and Emergency Reception staff and Nurse to be friendly and helpful, however I am concerned to hear of your experience of care with our Accident and Emergency Doctor. I am sorry that you felt the Doctor was rude and intimidating and that you were unable to fully explain your symptoms and concerns.

I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this with you personally, in order to fully understand your experience and help ensure that this is not the experience of patients in future. If you would be happy to do so, please contact the Trust on 01709 820000 and ask for me personally.
