I have been an inpatient in two hospitals in the last 4 years and have difficulty in believing the lack of patient care that I and other patients suffered. I want to say to nurses: wake up to your responsibilities.
You are responsible for the care of your patients, not the lay managers. Put your patients first, and get off the chair by the desk/computer and look after your patients.
One nurse saw me vomiting my heart out and all she did was give me a dish - nothing else - and left me alone to vomit and I was a cardiovascular patient.
One nurse 'did not have time' to see if I had anything to eat during my 5 day stay in hospital. Wake up to your proper resposibilities and care for us - your patients.
