"feel unhappy with sua care"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

My 5th pregnancy and my.baby has sua and even though I have concerns.I.feel ppl.don't know what they are.going on about even one midwife didn't even know what sua is. I am now nearly 33 weeks pregnant have scans every 4 weeks but now I have to wait another 4 weeks just to know.if.baby is Ok iv not been.offered any extra care or tests to help keep my mind at ease during.the wait of 4 weeks where.I'll.be then.36 weeks pregnant and my daughter could.become.stressed and leave me in a bad situation.. Nobody seems to take any notice of the sua noted in my notes and even when.I tell them they ain't bothered they may seem like it's.nothing but.to me it's everything to know she is Ok.. In other places they offer non stress tests I been.offered nothing and even.the community midwifes are useless and u can't even.get in.contact with them.. Unhappy

I am sorry to hear that you have been dissatisfied with the response from your community midwives in relation to the diagnosis of single umbilical artery. Our ultrasound screening at Medway would have identified at 12 and 22 weeks of pregnancy any soft markers suggesting congenital abnormality, as none have been identified this should alleviate anxieties for you in this respect. Ongoing scanning every 4 weeks will determine whether the baby is growing well and includes surveillance for renal abnormality. I am sorry that you have found it difficult to speak with a community midwife and appreciate this can be challenging as they do not receive calls during appointments. May I suggest that if you would like to speak to your named midwife, telephone your midwives’ team office, the number will be on the front of your records and a telephone consultation or appointment with your midwife can be arranged. If you wish to speak to me further about this, please do get in touch. Gill Perks Matron Community - Supervisor of Midwives gill.perks@nhs.net 01634 830 000 x5944
