"Ent septoplasty day surgery not for the faint..."

Went in on the 18th sept 2014 for my 'routine' septoplasty with additional 'cushion' reduction (turbinates). Surgery day prompt, though couldn't hear the surgeon as he was whispering due to only bring in curtained areas with all he other patients listening. Very brief explanation of surgery. Told of minor side effects, ie some bleeding fluid, possibly softening of bottom of nose. Sent home with ibuprofen and paracetemol. Was given my information leaflet on septoplasty to make my decision on surgery whilst in recovery- useless to say the least. Four days after surgery I had multiple heavy arterial bleeds requiring urgent hospital treatment. Had to have excruciating packing in nostril kept in 2 days sent home, was back in 3 days after for more of the same with extras of blood transfusion etc. I'm still trying to get to the bottom of what went wrong, but just get the same answer 'it's not rare what's happened to you' If I had been fully informed of risks I would not have had this procedure. Please make sure you have asked all relevant issues about your surgery including worse case scenarios to make an informed decision.
