My mother was taken into A &E by ambulance after a fall at home. She was seen straight away and after initial examinations was put into a cubicle. As she also had an urinary tract infection she was asking for the loo every 20 mins. She was attended to each time without fuss and we were kept informed of the results and the fact that she was to be admitted to a ward for an operation the following day. She was given food and drink and "kept an eye on". She did have to wait over 6 hours for a bed in the ward, but we were kept informed throughout, and obviously beds are at a premium. After the operation, she received good care. Her diabetes, bloods and UTI were brought under control and Shrewsbury arranged for a transfer to a more local hospital as soon as she was able and safe to travel. Only criticism is the parking is chaotic and visiting times are very short when you have travelled a long distance to get there.
