"a complete disregard for anyone in mental health..."

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

My girlfriend and I waited 5 hours to be seen by the mental health team. The staff could not give us any idea about how long we would be waiting and said that the mental health unit was not even in the building. My girl friend was sat for hours being tortured by voices and people with broken ankles and stomach bugs walked in and out. There was a complete disregard for mental health. I got told they would try and find out when the mental health team were coming, 'if they have time'. What kind of service is that? No health without mental health. Thats a good idea!

I'm sorry about your girlfriend's experience in our Emergency Department. Whilst we are not responsible for providing mental health services (provided by North East London Foundation Trust), I would have expected our staff to be more understanding and helpful. Thank you for sharing this with us. To investigate this for you, I will need you to provide me with further information. Please contact me via our PALS team on 01708 435 454 or email PALS@bhrhospitals.nhs.uk Yours sincerely, Flo Panel-Coates Chief Nurse
