I've spent the last year in the care of the Hull Neurology Dept and they have done nothing to aid my recovery, if anything they have prolonged my suffering due to their inefficiency and incompetent methods of diagnosis. I've had to endure two stays in the outdated under staffed HRI which in both cases I was discharged in a worse condition than I was admitted in. The first experience I had was being left on a trolley in a cold corridor for 4 hours before being seen by a doctor, it then took two days to transfer me to the correct ward I needed to be on before being discharged (too early and without the correct tests being carried out) which took a further 48 hrs due to the complete incompetence of the administration system there. The consultants don't listen to anything I say instead they talk over me belittling my views and ultimately the symptoms which I'm suffering. I'm truly shocked that this is the level of care i'm being subjected to under the NHS and nobody seems to be interested that a 33 year old mother of two young children has had her life put on hold by a condition which is increasingly looking like MS but nobody seems to have the required skills or interest to help me or my family. It has reached a point now where a medical negligence solicitor is involved in my case and on the advice of certain staff at the HRi we are looking to move to the Neurology Dept at Liverpool as they have a very good reputation whereas the reputation of the neurology dept in Hull is very poor. We are forced to pay into the NHS whereas if it were a private company offering this woeful level of service we could simply take our money elsewhere and receive a higher level of service. I'm appalled that this is classed as healthcare in 2014, I've been left with no answers, no one to help or listen to me and i'm scared that i'm going to be left in this state unable to carry on with my normal day to day life missing out on what should be some of the happiest times with my children growing up. I contacted PALS which have been no help whatsoever, it seems the norm for patients to be left undiagnosed and suffering. If you have the money go private.....or even better look outside the UK for healthcare.
