"I can`t understand why you do it to yourself!"

It was the astonished phrase that the nurse in charge told me when I was asking for the fifth time help after a small surgery under general anaesthesia. I was in strong pain. I called her four times and she ignored me. At that moment I didn'tt realize this unimaginable thing was happening. I thought that I was not being able to speak loudly enough. However, for my hopelessness, in the fifth time, she decided to answer, and loudly enough for all the Ward 12 listen it. That was the phrase: I can`t understand why you do it to yourself! And speaks my name. To complete, after this pronouncement, she said that I am a "lost person". Oh my God! I was desperate in pain asking help for the nurse in charge! Until now I can`t believe that it occurred. I am in shock. Afterwards, apparently in a joke (? ) she shook my toes, what shook my belly, less than two hours of the surgery on it. I couldn't even complain because the pain came so strongly that I hadn't forced to speak. Also, after all of these, I stayed terrified thinking about what more could happen to me there...

But... For my luck, some angels also were there: my wonderful nurse (not the one in charge) that saw my situation and kindly helped me and the nurse that substituted the shift of this first one in charge, who couldn't understand why after a surgery I was begging support for my pain. These two angels (the support nurse and the one in charge after 4 pm) were amazing as well as all the doctors that attended me in The Queen Margaret Hospital -Fife. But I confess that I am still in shock...

I needed to report it, trying to help no other woman to go through it... Thanks for the opportunity to expose it.
