"Emergency Admittance to Early Pregnancy Unit"

About: Colchester General Hospital

I was admitted to the Early Pregnancy Unit last week, following pain and bleeding in early pregnancy. I was scared, unsure of what was happening to me and unaware of the procedures. Myself an my husband were treated with respect and dignity by all the staff who dealt with us, from the Reception Staff, to the doctors and nurses. They had to break the difficult news to us that I was having an ectopic pregnancy which would need to be surgically removed immediately. At this obviously difficult and emotional time, I was kept informed and well looked after during my stay in the Stanway Ward and my husband was allowed to stay with me on the first day when I was admitted unexpectedly. As I recover from this shock and reflect on how I was treated, I am happy with the treatment and care I received from the staff at Colchester General Hospital.
