"The team were very good throughout"

About: Poole General Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as a relative),

My wife had a fall on Friday, I could see from the way her foot was pointing that she had had a fracture of some sort. I called 999 and a first responder paramedic arrived within 10 minutes.

He gave my wife morphine to ease the pain before checking that she had not had other injuries. He and I made my wife as comfortable as we could after he had called for an ambulance back up.

Again the ambulance was there very quickly, I know that from me calling 999 to the ambulance taking her to Poole Hospital was 25 minutes. The team were very good throughout, they were very calm and efficient, very caring.

By Saturday my wife had had an operation to set her broken pelvis and by Sunday the nurses had her sitting in a chair. Brilliant treatment.

Dear Main120

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I am glad to hear that your wife is making a good recovery.

It is always rewarding to hear that our staff are continuing to provide excellent care to our patients when they need us most.

I would like to pass your kind comments onto the first responder and ambulance crew who came to the aid of your wife. Would you be able to contact me, laura.martin@swast.nhs.uk or call 01392 453831, at your convenience, with the date and address that the ambulance attended? This would allow me to identify the staff involved and ensure they are recognised for the care they gave.

Thank you again for providing feedback on our service.

Kind regards

Laura

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are pleased to hear that the staff from the ambulance service provided comfort and support to your wife and we will pass your comments to the South West Ambulance Trust to cascade to their staff. We note that following your wife’s attendance in ED, surgery was required and we are pleased to hear that your wife had her surgery performed within a 24 hour period. We are delighted to hear that you were pleased with the prompt treatment and care which our staff had shown to your wife. We wish your wife well in her recovery. Kind regards Maria Bennett Patient Experience Facilitator
