What I liked

The nurses and health care staff were, for the most part, very kind and helpful.

What could be improved

The nurses are severely understaffed. They were constantly rushing between patients so patients had to wait. One patient's catheter was left so long it burst and my mother's wound leaked and she was made to wait for an unacceptable period of time for her dressing and bedding to be changed. One nurse upset patients with her sharpness but did apologize, This was no doubt due to the stressful conditions nurses are forced to work under. My Mum was given no pain relief until 7 hours after we arrived at the hospital. We had to wait in A and E for over 6 hours. I did not feel doctors gave full or clear enough explanations.

Anything else?

I have a great deal of respect for nurses and I would like to thank the staff on wards 2 and 34 for their help and sensitivity. They deserve much more support and far better working conditions.
