"A brilliant experience in a traumatic situation!"

About: Bradford Royal Infirmary

I received excellent service from Bradford hospital last week. I came in to A and E and was then admitted to Ward 27 on Thursday 25th September. I was very anxious and upset about what had happened and about being so far from home (Southampton). All of the hospital staff I encountered treated me with the utmost kindness and helpfulness. I was also dealt with quickly and efficiently - my stay in A and E was less than 1 1/2 hours (though I realise I managed to have my accident at a quiet time of day!!) The nurse in A and E was really helpful and explained the situation clearly to me as well as lightening the atmosphere for me!! The radiographer whom I saw twice was really kind when she saw I was upset. The porters were all so friendly and cheerful. All the nurses and Health Care Assistants on Ward 27 were caring and professional; they always seemed to have time for me and the other patients, and they had an abundance of patience. Everything was explained clearly - the communication was excellent. Finally the anaesthetists and the surgeon were kind and caring as well as professional and made it clear about what was happening. Obviously, I would rather not have been in hospital at all, but I cannot imagine a better experience under the circumstances. (And the food was good too - when I was allowed to eat it!!) A traumatic situation was made bearable and comfortable for me.

Hello, this sounds to have been very traumatic, especially because you were so far away from home. The feedback you have given about all the areas you attended is fabulous and is the kind of service we expect to deliver to our patients. I will share your comments with the relevant teams, as you quite rightly say, no one wants to be in hospital but it is heart-warming to hear that you have had such a positive experience. Many thanks for sharing this and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
