"Small things would have improved my stay on a gynae ward"

About: Bradford Royal Infirmary

(as the patient),

I was an inpatient on a female ward in January 2009 following a miscarriage and a query ectopic pregnancy.

The care I received was mostly excellent...I was shown compassion and had great explanation from the doctor and the health care assistant i met first. I was very distressed but had everything explained to me.

The only downside to my care was very small things which in a busy ward like I was on, the staff probably don't realise. Simple things like introducing themselves to me. At one point I was in pain and asked for pain relief. The nurse told me she would get some prescribed but was then called to assist another patient. This was probably more important or perhaps an emergancy but I felt I had maybe been ignored.

All in all though, the care I received was good and did put my mind at ease during a very difficult time.
