"Use of water birth suites"

About: Good Hope Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

Now we know why there were only 119 water births during 2013 despite the hospital having 2 water birth suites. There are hardly ever enough midwives to staff the water birth suites. This equates to each water birth suite being used 1 in every 6 days - what a complete waste of money if the facilities can't be staffed properly by an incompetent trust.

Hi

Thank you for contacting us regarding this concern. I will ensure your post is sent to the Head Nurse for our Midwifery services. It would be useful to have your contact details so she can provide feedback to you regarding the staffing of the water birth suites. You can contact me on ann-marie.riley@heartofengland.nhs.uk or ring me on 0121 424 9664.

Kind regards

Ann Marie
