"Person-centred service"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / General Medicine

(as a relative),

My mum (who has Alzheimer's) had another out-patient appointment with the plastic surgery team. As ever, the service was person-centred, and dementia-friendly. There was no-one in medical photography, so the consultant asked if it was ok to take a photo on her phone and explained this would be sent via secure email. She also prescribed a cream that we were able to collect from pharmacy before we left, which was much appreciated.

All healthcare appointments should be like this.

Dear Dementia Daughter

To hear that your mother is consistently receving person centred, dementia friendly care is fabulous to hear. Sharing the good experiences enables us to promote the importance of a positive approach, so thanks for taking the time to post.

I will gladly share this with the team and more widely across the Board.

Yes, this particular team consistently works in a person-centred way and it would be good if other teams could learn from them.
