I have just come home from a 2 night stay in the Derby royal hospital for very complex knee surgery. Arrived at the hospital on mon 22nd sept for 7:30 admission & was told I was first to go to theatre at 8:30am. I was preped for surgery by the nurse, met the registrar & the anethatist and then by 8:10am the porter was there to take me to theatre, my surgery was to be done under spinal which I was quiet scaried about but the anethatist was fantastic & spoke to me throughout the op to take my mind off of it. After surgery & recovery I was taken to ward 207 & then after a few hours moved to ward 206 were I spent 2 nights. The staff on ward 206 where really good but on a couple of occasions they were understaffed which put the other staff under more pressure & ment it took awhile to get dressings changed etc, I experienced one occasion were it took 7 hours to get my dressing changed. I was very suprised by the food in this hospital as it was actually very good, with plenty of choice. Highly recommend my consultant & the other people involved in the T & O department. Thanks guys
