"My stay in hospital with septicemia"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Hairmyres / General Surgery (Ward 5)

(as the patient),

I went to vote with help of husband as disabled due to a rare Auto-immune disorder. Then visited the Haven a place of sanctuary for those affected by cancer as I have breast cancer. Had a reflexology treatment and halfway through started to shake uncontrollably. By the end of treatment was whisked home as rigor continued and husband noticed my clay like pallor and blue lips. Due to me health history he didn't hesitate and called an ambulance.

I was rushed to hospital and in A and E diagnosed with serious infection. Sent up to The high dependency unit. I was looked after fantastically by nursing and medical staff. Never once did I hear the words, "In a minute" when I asked for my pain meds.

Dear Jazzy21,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback via patient opinion.

We are pleased to hear that you were looked after well at Hairmyres Hospital.

Patient feedback is very important to the NHS in Scotland as it helps us to have a greater understanding of our patient needs and expectations - it also allows us to make changes and improvements in the way we deliver care.

Kind Regards,

Claire

Dear Jazzy21

I'd like to echo Susan comments. The team in A&E have been working hard to improve early recognition and treatment of Sepsis, and it will be hugely rewarding to all involved that you had such a positive experience. Also we are very proud of our high dependency unit and it's staff. Susan and I will make sure your thanks and kind words are shared with all staff

I hope you are recovering and your next reflexology session is more relaxing!

Kind regards
