"Unacceptable delays in my husband's cancer care"

(as a relative),

A year today my husband was told he had cancer (metastatic carcinoma of hypopharynx). The hospital was brilliant when he had chemo radiotherapy. This ended in September of last year. 4 months on, he was doing quite well, but then he woke up in the night with bad back pains. On his check up, he was told by the consultant that he had to have a CT scan. That’s where the treatment at another hospital was terrible. He had to wait 7 weeks to be seen, but in between he got so bad that was taken into hospital, only to be told he had constipation and sent home. The second time, he could not pass urine and was told to go home and told to drink a pint of lager or Guinness! I was out of my mind with worry, and phoned the consultant he was under before. He saw my husband and now he is being treated at that hospital. He is very ill and I’m thinking the worse. In this day and age, I wonder, how can they have treated us like this?
