Was referred to the QE by my doctor for hearing aids after I had happened to mention that I had been wearing them for 10yrs and had gone privately. I was apprehensive as didn't know what to expect as could only remember NHS aids as being big and patients were only given one - not two as happens now. I was greeted by the audiologist who put me at my ease and told me that things had moved on since those days and I would get digital aids. He was extremely patient and spent a considerable amount of time until he was able to get the best possible settings for my new aids which to my astonishment, were tiny. I wear "behind-the-ear" aids so was delighted at the size of them as they can't be seen at all. Plus, my batteries are free - something I have always had to buy. I am very pleased with them and can now watch some tv programmes without sub-titles, and this week attended a funeral at my local church and was able to follow the service without problem. For the past few years and even with my expensive hearing aids I was unable to do this. A big thank you to the audiologist, the QE and our NHS.
