"Complete shambles! - Very poor care"

About: Worcestershire Royal Hospital

Very poor care - MAU unit terrible and staff care awful - no communication what so ever and absolutely no continuity of care - I was on the terrible MAU unit for at least 10 days - as obviously wards were full - Patients were being moved - / elderly patients being moved at ridiculous hours early morning - i.e 1am - 4am to other wards - hence poor bed management etc causing frail and elderly to be overwhelmed and scared and confused - I am a nurse myself and am appalled at the lack of care/dignity and respect by many of the nurses - I had been in with nausea and vomiting - hence rehydration was necessary - drips left in my arms etc way too long as swelling up etc etc and nobody took any notice until I mentioned it and every time it had to try and be replaced - Had not eaten for at least 8 days and no one said anything - I agree the aim was to re hydrate yet do you not think a dietitian would be called or something - Food choice for people being ill - i.e plain/simple etc was lacking hence could not eat and no one even noted my situation - Went in with a blister and and no one took any notice even after my mentioning it numerous times due to dressing needing changing- hence - then ended up with two ulcers - and it was clear nurses did not know what they were doing as they themselves said it was not their speciality!! - Why not get hold then of the podiatrist?? or refer as necessary - The right arm did not know what the left was doing - Dr's making fun of elderly patients opposite me with the staff - when relatives did not agree with the fact their relative was to be discharged etc - Dr had said to staff and laughed they had 'clearly'been watching the Jeremy Kyle show etc if they thought they were going to sue!! - How inappropriate - this Dr obviously had a big head for their young shoulders!! - Apart from that - nursing staff sat at the nurses station chatting all night hence the majority of us on the unit opposite the desk got no sleep. I was discharged and got home not even being able to walk - was so weak and had to crawl on my hands on knees for at two to three months and walk trying to hold on to people due to weakness and still not being able to eat properly - I was glad to be out of that hole/dive - sincere lack of care and responsibility - I was worse off at the end of my stay there than when I went in and hope to God I never end up there again
