"Completely inefficient department"

About: Hemel Hempstead Hospital

I took my son to Hemel Urgent Care Unit 24/9, arriving around 8.45pm. He had been involved in a RTA and started very quickly to suffer back pain, we called 111 and were advised to go to the unit at Hemel. He was in a lot of pain and the seats in these waiting rooms are not comfortable at the best of times but when you have a back injury even worse. He was not see for 3 hours and like other people have said in their reviews other people would be seen even though they arrived after him. When he was finally seen by a nurse he was not assessed incorrectly in my opinion and far to swiftly. A urine test was done to check Kidney function and was OK but his back was not examined at all. He was sent away with a couple of leaflets but no advise on what to do next or advise on pain relief. We were not the only people treated badly, chatted to other people who were not very impressed with the service given, one lady waited 3 hours and then enquired how long before she would be seen only to be told they could not find here on the system. Calling St Albans Minor injuries department today for more advise.
