"Broken wrist not diagnosed"

About: Wharfedale Hospital

I attended Otley minor injuries unit a month ago with a wrist injury sustained whist boxing. My wrist was quite swollen and I was in a lot of pain. After a quick examination I was sent to xray and had 2/3 taken of the injury. Some 30-30 minutes later I was discharged having been assured it was not broken but just swollen and to rest it for a while. A couple of weeks later and the injury was still hurting so I attended LGI where another set of xray's were taken. They immediately diagnosed a broken bone which had now partly started to fuse with another one and was pinching the blood supply to some of my fingers. Three days later I went under the knife of the Consultant in Orthopedics to repair what should have been diagnosed initially. Hospital is very clean (as it should be for a new build), car parking easy and relatively well priced (although it would be nicer if it was free of charge) and easy to find. Waiting time almost non-existant to be seen by a nurse.
