"services were without exception exemplary"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford) / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

Recently I experienced the most concerning and frightening experience of my life, when at the park with my children I experienced loss of speech, pins and needles and an acute headache, all of which resulted in me visiting and receiving care at the William Harvey Hospital A&E department and the Stroke Clinic of Mr Hargoves. My experience of the above named services were without exception exemplary from start to finish. The service was so high that I felt moved to write and thank the staff, from booking in at casualty, to the triage nurse, the extremely professional, thorough and kind (fantastic manner) FY1 Dr (Jessica Ball I think) the nurses and particularly the lovely male stroke nurse, who took me for my CT scan and the nurse who took my ECG and gave me my medicine and of course Mr Hargroves (who I would like to elaborate on further later) all made my me feel like an individual, a person who was cared for, a person who was significant and a person who was an individual and not a subject! The compassion and care these people showed me in turn helped me to feel relaxed and calm at a time of great fear for me and my family, which I appreciate even more knowing, that my personal despair is but a fraction, of the difficult and challenging experiences the people I met (who are but strangers to me) manage to show to others. After discharge from A&E I returned the

next day to the stroke clinic of Mr Hargroves, where again I found the staff and particularly the nurse (whose name began with Pa I think) who did my medical checks to be happy, caring and extremely professional. Mr Hargrove's himself clearly leads by example, bright and positive, making every effort to ensure that we were seen promptly (Booked into A&E 19: 15, discharged approx 21: 30 and MRI appointment arranged for 11: 30 following morning). Mr Hargroves was clear in the way he delivered information and made me feel genuinely reassured but most importantly, I feel that he managed my situation in a way that felt personal and caring to me, resolving my fears and diagnosis quickly and with minimal emotional impact on me, of which I cannot thank him enough. Finally my positive experience extended and thankfully ended at the MRI suite where the staff again were positive, caring and helpful. of particularly note was the kind, caring and reassuring nature of James Coombs who quickly and calmly resolved and explained questions and concerns I raised.

Therefore I would quite simply like to say thank you to each and everyone of you, you have made a difference to mine and my families life and one of my life experiences easier to cope with, you did a good thing.
