"Cancer treatment at Ninewells"

About: Ninewells Hospital / Oncology

(as the patient),

I underwent cancer treatment in Ninewells hospital and was treated very well indeed, aside from the Dr (won't say his name) in the first instance misdiagnosing me with an infection, stating in front of medical students and in front of a family member that he would not waste money on a scan and sending me home with antibiotics for two weeks, only for my return after the two weeks to finally get the scan which clearly showed a tumour, the actual treatment after that was excellent and saved my life.

I advise anyone who is undergoing any medical treatment to make sure they involve themselves fully in the treatment and remember that its their body and their responsibility to ensure that Dr's and Nurses who are human don’t make a mistake during their care. Ask what they're doing, why they're doing it and what it's supposed to achieve and don’t worry about upsetting someone, be polite but forthright as its your life on the line!
