"Many thanks to Tameside Cardiology clinic"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

I have not had cause to be a patient in hospital for a long time, so it was a new experience for me - but it was evident that the hospitals are overworked and understaffed and they are doing their best. There seemed to be endless paperwork, yet the nurses seemed to spend half their time filling things in.

My mind was put at ease by nurses and doctors as they explained everything.

On the whole I felt safe and in good hands. I would like to thank MA Ward and the Cardiology clinic, Stamford House, Tameside hospital.

Thank you for submitting your comments regarding your visit to MAAU and the Cardiology Clinic earlier this year. I am pleased that you felt safe and in good hands, and as requested have passed on your thanks to the staff concerned. I am sure they will be greatly appreciated.

I also note your comments about paperwork. Obviously, the correct balance has to be struck between providing care and treatment to patients and maintaining records of what has been done, to an appropriate professional standard. The Trust has recent completed a successful, month long trial of new nursing documentation, which is designed to both improve accuracy and reduce paperwork. The new documentation will be implemented in clinical areas over the coming months. In line with national standards are guidance, the hospital is moving towards a situation where more of the information which is currently written down is recorded in electronic format. This will have many benefits and will certainly reduce the administrative burden of recording and eliminate duplication of effort.

Thank you again for your comments. I am sorry not to have responded sooner. However, Tameside General Hospital has only recently obtained the facility to reply to comments made on this website.
