"Not allowed the same drugs as Macclesfield"

About: Stepping Hill Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

I went into Stockport after being transfered from Macclesfield with renal colic (Blocked kidney). I was seen by a pain nurse at Macclesfield and given a chart for my pain relief but after being transferred to Stockport this was abandoned and I was offered paracetamol?! I had been on Morphine at Mac as the pain was unbearable. I had to text my husband for him to ring them and threaten some sort of action if I wasn't given the right pain relief. I was in the end but begrudgingly by a few of the nurses. I was also left for two days without knowing if I was to go into surgery so I had no food or water for TWO DAYS. No one seemed to think that was a problem... Eventually I had surgery and was allowed home after a week.

The ward sister is amazing and you knew when she was on that you would be looked after. However, there was one nurse there who if you asked her nicely if you could have your pain relief she would make you wait, but if you demanded it she did it quicker. The night staff were also playing solitaire all night and I had to inform them that an old lady was about to fall out of bed.
