"ocelet ward"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

My daughter was sent to this ward possibly suffering with an early miscarriage after being kept waiting in A&E for 7 hours. They took 1 lot of blood but forgot to take a 2nd lot. They sent her home and I wont bore you with the details but she was sent back twice more becore being told that she had probably lost her baby. As my daughter still didnt feel well and a further 2 pregnancy tests still showed positive she consulted her GP who phoned ocelet ward to demand a scan as he was concerned that she was either still pregnant or there were the remains of her pregnancy still present in her system. After much deliberation they agreed to scan my daughter the next morning 24 September 2014. We made our way there at the arranged time 10.40 only to be told the staff didnt know what we were talking about and with all due respect our dr was just a GP and not a gynocologist so we were not getting a scan as there was probably nothing left to see. We argued and pleaded but to no avail so went home and back to GP. Receptionist phoned ocelet ward up and after much deliberation we were told to go back the next day as a scan was important to see what was going on! This is unbelievable treatment at such a sad time in my daughters life and im disgusted shes been treated in this manner. Lets hope she gets her scan tomorrow 25 September as re-arranged!

I am the nurse that spoke to you and your daughter when you arrived on Ocelot Ward. I explained that following the doctor’s advice a blood test was required and a scan would be arranged if indicated from the blood results. I am sorry that you were not happy with the explanation and advice I gave you. I am very happy to discuss this matter further with your daughter. I can be contacted on 01634 830000 x5720 or via email at wendy.chapman@medway.nhs.uk Wendy Chapman Nurse Practitioner
