"Ophthalmology Day Clinic"

Yesterday I had an outpatient appointment at the Eye Day Clinic at 2pm and had to wait until 4pm to be seen. Two other outpatients waiting near me appeared to experience a similar issue. During a previous visit I eventually had to spend the entire afternoon there. This was not an isolated incident as I originally attended this clinic in February 2014 and matters were only taken forward when I chased matters up. My file had either been mislaid or put to one side with no feedback to myself. An operation date was twice cancelled and I received two other requests to change the operation date. When I finally saw the senior consultant I found him most professional and to the point but it was evident he was as frustrated as I was at the administrative support he was receiving. This is not intended as a complaint but as feedback to a hospital that in this department appears to have an organisational problem which is frustrating for patients. It must be the same for those staff who are trying to do their best in what on the day was organisationally chaotic.
