"Unhelpful, misleading and patronising."

About: Salisbury District Hospital

I saw a consultant at the hospital regarding choking sensations and referred pain across my face and it was discovered at an alternative hospital via my G.P. that I had a thyroglossal cyst deep within my neck. This has become infected 4 times this year and I have each time had a very raised ESR. I have had six courses of antibiotics to get the symptoms and fever under control. I saw the ENT doctor both at Salisbury and at New Hall this year (June) who was very patronising and insisted my symptoms were not related to the cyst. Despite my saying that the original pain originated under my jaw (exactly where the cyst was found to be located) He aimed to do nothing about it - just stopping short of patting me on the head. He also mentioned an hysterical condition called 'globus'. I went as an urgent patient to another hospital who are going to operate next week. They 'think' it is a thryoglossal cyst but, as they say, without removing it, cannot be 100% sure. Can you please inform this doctor that educated women do not care to be treated in this manner and it is 2014 not 1814.
