"Thought Id Broken my Foot"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

After "missing the last two steps on the stairs at home and hurting my foot, I initially dismissed the injury as just a sprain.

However when the toes on the foot went numb and a large swelling appeared on the top of my foot I thought, maybe it was a little more serious. It was a saturday evening and I was reluctant to go to A+E as I thought it would be very busy, but the pain got too much.

I was expecting a lengthy wait amongst a lot of drunken people in a usually very busy A+E depatment. However, I was pleasantly suprised. When I arrived, I was booked in by an assesment Nurse and was then seen very quickly by a Nurse Practitioner who sent me straight down for an xray. The results, diagnosis and treatment were back and completed within an hour!

Well done!!!
