"Ward 38 discharge to rehab"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

My father has been on ward 38 for the last week. The care he received on the ward was exemplary and I have nothing but praise. However, today he is being moved to another hospital for rehab. He was moved from the ward this morning but as I write he is still in the discharge lounge some 8 hours later with no timescales as to when he is going to be moved. This is no way to treat an elderly man and all we get when asking for an update is a rude response from the staff in the discharge lounge We as a family are appalled by our fathers treatment today

Dear reviewer, Thank you for taking the time to post your comment. It is great to hear how well your father was cared for on ward 38 but we are very sorry and disappointed to hear about your experience of our discharge lounge. It is unacceptable for our staff to be rude and not give you an idea of timescales for your father's care. We would like to look into your father's case so we can improve our service and ensure this doesn't happen again. If you are happy for us to do so, please send your father's details (full name, address, date of birth and hospital number) to communications@uhl-tr.nhs.uk. Kind regards, Communications team, Leicester's Hospitals
