"Not an experience I'd wish to repeat"

About: Huddersfield Royal Infirmary

I was brought into Huddersfield A&E by an ambulance, I was suffering from severe abdominal pain and vomiting. I explained the symptoms to the nurse and mentioned that moving my head at all made me sick, she seemed to ignore this and asked me to go sit in the waiting room. The waiting room was very full, with most of the patients appearing to be very drunk, as mentioned before I was now sitting so being very violently sick, i feel that this was a very uncomfortable experience not only for me but the people around me who had to listen/see this. Nurses kept walking through and no one offered to get me a new bowl or even offer to let me sit somewhere more private. The stench of whiskey coming from the man sat next to me didn't help my nausea and he kept asking me for a lighter. Eventually I was taken onto the A&E ward where I was insulted not only by the nurses but the doctors too, one doctor told me that I was not in pain when I winced at him touching my stomach and another nurse yelled at me for being sick on the floor when she had taken my bowl away. I was told that I just had an infection and to go home, however after visiting my GP the next day and having further tests done it appears that I don't have an infection and am now being sent to see a specialist. Overall I was very disappointed in the care I recieved I felt a loss of dignity and felt that the staff thought I was being a nuisance.
