"Opthalmology Department"

About: William Harvey Hospital

I have visited this hospital 4 times this year, I have suddenly had to deal with a 90 year old mother. who is very ill. The Cardio department and the transport department worked brilliantly, this I have to say, we have had 3 vists to this department. I lived in Germany for 22 years, and the service we received was second to none at this hospital. However, the Opthalmology department is something else. We were booked in to the wrong part firstly. Along with 3 others on the same day, apparently the doctors orders were all correct but the team who read the emails on a daily basis seem to take it upon themselves to redirect people and they turn up at the wrong place. We were promised that the matron in charge would be notified. Five months later, we have now complained to the NHS team in Canterbury, who delayed their response to our query regarding the lack of due diligence, duty of care and good governance that we raised with regard to this department. Abominable, unprofessional, a complete lack of good governance, complacency and arrogance. We are still waiting for an appointment, the correct one, and the patient experience team to get back to us. This was an experience indeed, the Liberians look 20 years ahead of this department. Is this a lack of funding, or attempts to save money
