"Children's emergency followed by CDU"

About: John Radcliffe Hospital

After seeing an out-of-hours emergency doctor yesterday afternoon, they whizzed my 2-year-old son off to the A&E at the JR. They were expecting us and took us straight through to the Children's emergency. He was seen straight away, checked over by a doctor immediately and prepped for blood tests. Although we had to wait several hours for him to be assessed - we were kept informed and knew it was because there were two other children more sick and a doctor not in. After his assessment we were sent to the CDU and again it was fantastic. A bed for me next to my son and continuous checks throughout the night. Again - we had to wait for his assessment in the morning for several hours - but again we didn't mind as the staff kept us informed and were friendly. All-in-all, felt we were very looked after and I couldn't believe how thorough all the staff were.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us, we appreciate your feedback greatly! I am glad that your son was seen promptly and that staff in all areas of his treatment treated your son and yourself with respect and compassion, and kept you well informed throughout the process. I am pleasure to hear that the staff were friendly, and helped you feel at ease, during what could have been a difficult time. It has been a pleasure to share your thanks with the staff working within the Children’s Emergency department and in CDU. I hope your son is recovering well.
