"dam right disgusting"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

At this moment in time my sister is an in patient at the LRI maternity unit ward 6. I feel disgusted at the way she has been treated on this ward not by the midwives but buy the doctors and above. she is 27 weeks pregnant going into early labour looking at having a baby that needs special care. She has been left in pain for hours where the pain has got that bad she has urinated on her self but still left to sit in her own urine for hours as she needs help to change cause she is so weak and fragile. Tonight i had her in tear screaming down the phone to me in absolute pain the pain treatment team have took her off the medication she was on. resulting in her lying in the fetal poison in tears where to be left for hours like this. After being very concerned and upset about this whole situation i rang the ward first time took me 7 mins to get through where the midwife at the time said she was going to get a doctor so they could review her. 30 mins of my sister in absolute pain ringing me every five minutes i then rang back and got put back through to the person in charge and she said they where sending a doctor to give her medication to help the pain. 45 min after my sister ringing again and crying the finally took her some tablet form of medication which is not at all appropriate as she has so many blister and ulcer in her mouth she cant swallow the tablet. I am currently sat on the phone trying to get through to ward 6 it has been ringing for 22 minutes and 45 seconds with no answer. all i want to know is if she is ok so i can finally get some rest. I have picture of her left in soaked blood bandage, drips empty and not attached properly and the state we found her in when they left her, i will be taking this and all my concerns to the newspapers as no one should be treated like this. i generally feel that this situation will get worse and it will be a result of either loosing my sister or the baby or even worse both. if this does not improve i will discharge her and move her to my london hospital at least then she will get the care she and the baby needs.

Dear reviewer, Thank you for taking the time to post your comment. We are really sorry to read your concerns about your sister’s care. We would like to look into her case immediately as what you have described does not reflect the level of care we expect our patients to receive. To enable me to investigate her case, please could you call me on 0116 258 6086 or send your sister’s details to me on Ann.a.Buckley@uhl-tr.nhs.uk. Kind regards, Ann Buckley Acting Senior Midwife Leicester's Hospitals
