"Excellent care and quick diagnoses"

About: Stafford Hospital / Accident and emergency West Midlands Ambulance Service University NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as the patient),

I was taken by ambulance from work with excruciating pain in my side, ambulance staff were excellent and I was taken to Stafford A&E.

I was seen very quickly and after being asked questions and put on a drip I was x rayed which did not pick anything up. They decided to take me for a scan and this showed a kidney stone. Luckily the stone was small enough for me to pass without an operation and I was allowed home.

The care I received from the staff was excellent and the diagnosis was very quick. I do not relish the same pain again and was very glad it was sorted so quickly.

Thank you Stafford! This event happened earlier this year 2014 about February.

Update posted by Highfields lad (the patient)

I am at risk of another stone and find it very worrying that if it happens again I will possibly have to travel to Stoke or elsewhere in such pain. A county town which is growing needs a full time A&E!
