I had to visit A&E recently after experiencing severe chest pain and making my way to the hospital as the nearest one. I was obviously distressed and anxious about what was going on. Receptionist was excellent - invited me to go through immediately and take a seat and then came and took my details. Very quickly seen by an assessing nurse and then taken for ECG and blood tests. All done very quickly and given feedback about results. It was a scary experience for me but I felt assured by the competence of A&E staff and later ECU who all seemed very human, good humoured and helpful. They gave me a bleep so I could leave the area having been there for a long time. All in all very grateful for everyone's care - there is no one like our great doctors and nurses in a crisis and all who support them in their job, including radiologists and porters - thank you.
