"insulting , inefficient, uncaring."

I am currenty an out patent in the ENT dept, and have been for many years. Currently I am awaiting a follow up operation to the one I had last year. Every 4 - 6 wks I attend ENT for a procedure to clean out my ear, this is necessary to avoid further infection. After attending recently for a 12.00 appt, I was waiting for 30 minutes then taken for a hearing test, which due to me having tinnitus induced by my last op, was very uncomfortable but necessary. The audiologist didnt really explain what the outcome was, and during the test this was interrupted by another audiologist for some few minutes whilst waiting for the test to finish. however, when the audiologist advised " you might see a consultant" after my release from the test my fears and apprehension was confirmed. I was the only patient left in the waiting room. The nursing staff were buzzing around , looking at me gingerly, and as Im not yet deaf and hopefully not stupid, I rather got the impression that Id been forgotten, as their efforts to contact the consultant were in vain. However, no one took the time to advise me what was happening for another 30 mins[ the board in ent said max wait 20 mins]. I was asked by a nurse whether I would be happy to see another DR, but due to past encounters with them which I wont go into here, and the fact that I had to find out about an operation I was due to have which I attempted to rearrange [ still waiting after 5 wks for consultant,s secreatary to call me back as promised to clarify by the way, ], not to mention the ear cleaning process I felt it best to see my normal consultant. The nurse disappeared but after 10 mins so did I! i feel that the consultant had forgotten me. I think she had left for lunch. Due to this I had every right to leave. Also, the staff in ENT saw me leave. Not one offered any explanation, indeed one actually left ENT with me! Good to see were in good hands. It was only when I got into the complaints office in main reception when the nurse re- appeared to advise the consultant had returned. Strange how once you take a compaint in people reappear, and want to help. I have now lost confidence in this dept, and its ability to help. A big dilemma for me which I could do without considering Im meant to have had my ear addressed, as well as an impending operation. A big worry I could do without. I used to be a patient at DRI, ENT, and for what its worth the staff here in comparison are sadly lacking.
