"Horrified at care on surgical ward 1"

About: University Hospital Aintree

I was admitted to surgical ward one with gastric problems however I then contracted problems with my bladder (which the doctor advised I could have been infected during my stay at hospital) I couldn't pass water and was left for 12 hours without any assistance even though I felt like my bladder was going to burst. eventually they fitted a catheter which filled the whole bag immediately. This was not emptied for a further 3 hours even though the bag was completely full. At one stage I was in the corridor and started to dry heave as I was about to vomit. Two nurses who where chatting turned around and asked me if I was going to be sick. I said I was and one of them said "well i don't know where the sick bowls are" they then continued talking and left me standing there. I was then moved to ward three and the catheter has remained in and I have had no diagnosis, no tests apart from a water sample. I have now been sent home and told I cannot have a specialist appointment for 8 weeks! I am a 21 year old student and I am finding this extremely emotional. I have been given 1 Catheter bag and have been told today that the ward will not authorise any more bags. Overall I feel totally let down by Aintree Hospital in fact i am disgusted and so is everyone I have told about this situation.
