What I liked

I have been an inpatient in the Cardio Department of Salford Royal on several occassions over the past few years and have no adverse comments to make about most visits.

In December 2007 I did have an issue with one of the Consultants but this was quickly sorted out. The only complaint about a subsequent visit in December 2008 was that for 5 days I was put in a bed on the Renal Ward (I was a Cardio Patient), I understand this was done initially due to bed shortages, but should it have taken them 5 days to sort me a bed in the Cardio Dept.. During this 5 days of course I was not seen by a Doctor, but the Nursing staff were extremely good and also the Ward Staff as soon s I pointed out to them my predicament the wheels were put in motion and I saw my Cardio Consultant within a matter of minutes..

The rest of my stay at the hospital on the Cardio Ward was unenventful.

What could be improved

There should have been more liasion between the bed managers and the Medical Staff.. then I would not have been kept for 5 days with no attention on a ward where I should not have been.

Anything else?

I received a full explanation from my consultant and an apology for this incident.. I must point out it has never happened to me before and I hope it will not happen if I am unfortunate enough to have to be admitted to Salford Royal again in the future..
