"Treatment for my bad back is taking much too long"

About: Hampshire PCT / Community physiotherapy

(as the patient),

I first fell ill in April 2008 and since that time I have been passed around the NHS keeping a lot of different people employed. I have had 4 different attempts at physiotherapy, I have seen 5 different doctors at my local surgery and I have been to 4 different hospitals.

It wasn't until September of last year that I was diagnosed with a prolapsed disk in my back which makes sitting down for long periods or lifting things very painful, consequently I have been unable to do my job as a van driver since last April.

I finallly had an injection in my back in January this year but unfortunately it hasn't made any difference. I have not got my next appointment until the end of May which is only a follow up appointment. I am very angry with the NHS at the time they are taking with me.

Some time ago my employer wrote to me to to find out details of who I have seen. I wrote back and told them that I saw a certain person at a local hospital in October 2008, so they wrote to this hospital and they told my employer that they had no record of this consultant or me which I thought was disgusting but luckily I kept and still have the original appointment letter they sent me. I think that a person that has always worked for 33 years and paid taxes and national insurance deserves far better treatment from the NHS when they need it to get back to work. Luckily so far my employer has been really good and kept my job open for me.
