From meeting the Consultant to admission at the Surgical Admissions Lounge I had been smoothly and efficiently involved in planning my admission to hospital .I knew what to expect and what was expected of me.Each person I met was friendly informative and caring. Following surgery I was admitted to Hestercombe ward where I really felt cared for .The nurses ensured I had everything I could possibly need. The single rooms in the New Surgical building are second to none.(The closest I have ever seen were in a private and very expensive hospital in Dubai) I could be with my husband and children, I could sleep. That first evening two nurses helped me to manage my post operative pain. They were very fine nurses gentle and professional seeking to understand rather than to be understood - It made such a difference. This carried through the 3 days I was there until my very thoughtful discharge when I went home with the clear instructions from both nurses and medical staff on what to do and not do and medications. I do think that as a community we are very fortunate to have Musgrove as our hospital. It Is a week on and I am recovering well in my own home from what was fairly major surgery. That surgery was made less major by brilliant surgical technique and care . Thank you to the nurses and doctors who were part of my journey & made it an easy one.
"Consistently amazing care from all - Hestercome..."
