"Rude A & E staff!"

About: Weston General Hospital

I was totally shocked by the way staff treated me when I took my son to A&E with a broken ankle at10.30 last night. Not only was there an extremely long wait, but communication and consideration to those waiting was almost nonexistent. The triage nurse was an exception, she got the process moving smoothly and sent us down to X-ray , who were also efficient. However when I made an enquiry after waiting at least 2 hours after the X-ray I got a short , sharp reply from the A&E nurse who told me she 'didn't have to explain', when I think I had every right to know if my son had been overlooked! The Doctor was also extremely rude initially ignoring my request on the complaints procedure,. They are obviously understaffed and unless the public complain this will not be addressed, so I was actually trying to help them out. After arriving home at 3am and feeling totally dehumanised I decided In future I will try my best never to go there again. Where has the service gone in the NHS?

Hello, I'm so sorry you had a bad experience with us. We have been experiencing exceptionally high numbers through our Emergency Department over the last few days, however we still aim to deliver the highest standards of patient care and we sincerely apologise if we have failed to do so on this occasion. If you would like to discuss this further, would you please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) by emailing wnt-tr.pals@nhs.net and they will look into your concerns.
